6 Tips for Crafting Content That’s More than Readable

Quality is king when it comes to drawing in your target audience. Visitors to your website aren’t interested in reading, well, garbage content that’s full of errors and unrelated copy. So, how do you know when you’ve got quality content for your website or blog? Well, there are several tactics you can apply to your posts. Keep reading to learn more about how to craft more-than-readable content!

1. Make sure the point of your content is clear.

Readers shouldn’t have to guess what the purpose of your page or blog post is about. This means your title and header tags should be relevant and precise. Your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) keywords should also make sense with your content. For example, if you’re writing about a financing topic, you don’t want to suddenly have a paragraph about service.

2. Focus your content on your target audience.

Figure out who your target audience is first and then craft the level of readability towards your audience. This also applies to your headlines, as well. Write strong headlines that will appeal to your target readers. You wouldn’t use medical terminology in a post about the automotive industry, nor would you reference TikTok in a post geared towards an audience that’s over 30.

3. Have a clear goal.

This will also help you determine the direction of your content and determine what kind of call-to-action (CTA) you want. Are you trying to get more sales? Do you want more service appointments? Promote a new service or product? It’s also good to have an overall goal for all of your content, rather than just producing content for the sake of, well, producing content. Most website owners have a goal of selling more products/services or gaining clients.

4. Make sure the media is relevant.

Images and videos help draw readers in, and they give context to your content. However, you don’t want irrelevant media. Don’t have a picture of a ship or a surfer when you’re talking about cars, as such images won’t make sense or relate to your content in any way. And when you utilize images, be sure to have alt tags. These will help with your SEO rankings.

5. Great content takes time and effort.

You can’t rush quality content. It takes time and planning. It takes effort. Every detail of your post or page should be meticulously planned out and crafted. Don’t just “wing it” and throw junk content onto your site just to have text. Plan out what keywords, internal and external links, alt tags and images you want to work into your content. There are plenty of keyword planners available on the internet.

6. Be original.

Google hates copied content. Don’t copy a page from a competitor’s website just for the sake of having content. Come up with your own ideas. Be creative and original. Your website visitors will appreciate the one-of-a-kind content, too, since they’ve probably read the same thing over and over again.
