Apple's secretive Project Titan seems to have hit a roadblock.

Amid uncertainty about the future of an Apple autonomous driving system, a deadline of late 2017 has been set to determine the future of the project.

In the meantime, hundreds of engineers have left the program or been reassigned over the past several months. The project is currently experiencing an identity crisis, as it is now believed that Apple is prioritizing developing autonomous driving software as opposed to their own vehicle.

As autonomous vehicles and technology become closer to reality, growing pains like these are to be expected.
